Junkrat's Launcher - James Wilkins

In my spare time, I decided that I wanted to model something that was unlike the usual things that I model. I had also been playing a lot of Overwatch and thought it would be interesting to try and model something from the game and to attempt to emulate the art style.

I settled on Junkrat's weapon, his launcher. I first modelled a high poly mesh in 3DS max. I used a combination of 3DS Max and 3D Coat to retopo the mesh, resulting in a low poly model of 15,550 polys (with the grenades an additional 500 poly each).

Once unwrapped, ii used quixel's NDO to add some extra details that would have been timely to create in 3DS Max. I then baked out my maps and whacked the model into Substance Painter where I textured the model.

It was tricky to create the stylised aesthetics of the textures but I think I managed it well in the end :).
